Petrol Price Increase …

Yesterday is a new kick start for all Malaysian. We are going to enjoy the new petrol price at RM 2.70 / liter. Before the increase, the price is at RM 1.92 which means it had been increase RM 0.78 or 40%. Cool right? 40% of increase. I would like to ask, how long we need to work to receive an 40% increase in our salary? Besides, our lovely TNB (Tenaga National Berhad) also announce that there will be 18% increase of the electricity fee. Well, it is kind of big day for us.

I knew about the incident before the announcement from one of my friend who work in a local press. The first thing in my mind is how is the public reaction after they knew it? I myself do not travel much and same with those who just get a new car and struggle for the installment and monthly expenses on the car. After work, I went to a place to meet some friends. Along the way, I can see there is long queue to every petrol station. That was somehow surprise me a bit. It will only cost you 40% more to pump full tank for your vehicle.

For example, my myvi. Normally, it cost me arounf RM 55 to RM 60 for full tank. Now, I need to pay RM 24 more for it. It is just RM 24 more and you can’t do many thing with just RM24 in KL. However, that will be different case for those who travel more frequently. Take my car as example again, I spend around RM 250 per month before this. Now I need to spend around RM 350 per month. For those who travel more? One of my friend is working as marketing executive which require him to travel a lot for outstation. He spend around RM 500 per month before this and now, 40% more… maybe you will still consider it is just piece of cake. But, when you compare that with our salary range. You may notice that this is huge for us.

petrol increaseI found this interesting comparison image from a forum. I not so sure whether it is true. But I do think that we should not been charge that high. A funny story that flash in my mind. Before the election, someone from some party say that “it will not be any increase for petrol. So, vote for us!” I think he is trying to say that there will be no increase before the election so you people can be happy for awhile. See what happen now? you can tell me the answer.
